Waseem Ashfaq is a graduate from Hailey College of Commerce, University of the Punjab and a Chartered Accountant since 1994.  He completed his articles from Ford Rhodes Robson Morrow, Chartered Accountants (now called, EY Ford Rhodes). He assumed senior positions in large and reputable companies in Mutual Fund Investment, Engineering, Construction, Telecom, Textile, Financial Institution and Financial Consultancy sectors in Pakistan and abroad.   

 

Currently, he is a senior partner in H.A.M.D & Co. Chartered Accountants since July 2012, representing McMillan Woods International Limited (MCMWI) in Pakistan, being In-charge of Lahore office of the firm and mainly engaged in Assurance and Consulting assignments of listed companies, private companies, NGOs, INGOs and companies registered u/s 42.  He also chairs the board of McMillan Woods Pakistan (Pvt) Limited, a full scope financial, legal and business consultancy firm, also an affiliate of McMillan Woods International Limited.

He has worked with E. A. Juffali & Bors. Group, ZAD Investment Company and Saudi Binladin Group in senior finance position in Saudi Arabia and held senior finance position in Descon Engineering Company, Telecom Company, textile sectors and handled projects funded by USAID and Norwegian Embassy as Chief Financial Officer.  He was associated with SECP and PTCL as Director during 2001 to 2006.  Thus, gained an opportunity to apply good knowledge of financial management policies and corporate affairs of large business houses and international donor agencies.  He has also attended various ‘Workshops on USAID’s Financial Audit Programs for NGOs’ and Training on IFRS, Forensic Audit and Workshop on Corporate Governance Action Planning for SMEs organized by USAID/OIG, LUMS and International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) and ICAP. Besides core areas of accountancy and auditing,  the firm has gained expertise in system designing, process development, internal auditing, policy formulation, risk management & control functions, financing arrangement, project costing, budgeting & forecasting, feasibility studies, business advisory, financial modeling,, business projections, financing arrangements including IPOs, etc.

 

In addition of fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, he is a member of the Institute of Taxation Management, Pakistan; The Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Managers, Pakistan; Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants, The Institute of Internal Auditors, Florida, USA (Pakistan Chapter) and Lahore Tax Bar Association.

He has been an active member of Accounting Standard Committee, Technical Advisory Committee, ICAP Benevolent Fund Management and Economic Advisory & Government Relationship Committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
